Raz-Kids

Raz-Kids is a computer based program that can be accessed through the internet. As mentioned on the homepage, the site is NOT FREE. You must have a subscription to use the website. According to the website it helps readers, "Students improve their reading skills by: Listening for modeled fluency, Reading for practice, Recording their reading, Checking comprehension with quizzes." The web-based reading program has 27 levels of reading. The students are entered through the teacher page and are placed at their reading level based on teacher assessments. When a student reaches a higher reading level their books will be adjusted to a higher level.

**Please note: In the video above, students are assigned a DIFFERENT teacher user name.

In my classroom, all students will use the program once a day during the Daily 5 time allotment. They may choose to read and record a book or have a book orally read to them after they are encouraged to take a comprehension quiz. Students are encouraged to read books at home or at the library.
Students are provided with a recording headset to practice their fluency in school and at home based upon need students may check out a headset. Our school has a subscription throughout the district K-6 and student users are chosen differently among varying school needs. For example some schools designate RAZ-Kids for students who struggle in reading, recieve Title I services in reading or have a reading disability.
